Fly Bar…A Unique Dining Option in Downtown Tampa

Fly Bar sits on the Northern Edge of Franklin Street in Downtown Tampa. Despite it’s “out of the way” location, it’s unique menu and atmosphere make it a busy place any night of the week. A combination bar scene/tapas menu/restaurant, with music nearly every night, it has a little something for everyone. I have just two gripes about Fly Bar: 1) It is TOOOOO loud. They really need to turn the music down in order to have a dinner conversation, and 2) They refuse to put salt and pepper on thhe table. Yes, they will bring it, if you ask, but the wait staff gets rushed, so ASK for it upfront!
The menu is a delightful assortment of Cold Plates, Salads, “nibble food” and entrees. The seasonal menu changes, so last night I enjoyed the Panko Crusted Goat Cheese with charred cherry pomodoro sauce, along with Seared Red Fish and Crab Gumbo. It was perfectly spiced, and the addition of garbanzo beans was a nice change from the “usual” rice.
The Seared Grouper with white bean stew and wilted spinach, as well as, the Grilled Hangar Steak are also favorites on the menu. Mondays feature half-priced bottles of wine, which offers a nice selection, and a guitarist! Beer drinkers will be happy, too, with many interesting options to choose from!

Builders in Tampa are buying lots, building custom homes and starting to build “spec houses” again. Most of my clients are families with children, who are looking for the “Best Neighborhoods in Tampa”, and the “Best School Districts” in Tampa.  Tampa, the largest city in Hillsborough County, has many top-rated schools, in the State of Florida, and in the US, including three high schools in the top 100 High Schools in the US.

One of the areas that attracts many families with school-aged children, is the “New Tampa” area.  With prices for homes ranging from $200,000 to over a million, there are many options available at all price points.

On the waterfront, just blocks from downtown Tampa, Harbour Island offers the combination of prestige, convenience, 24 -hour security in a gated environment, and a comfortable lifestyle, in a variety of neighborhoods. You can walk to Jackson’s Bistro for dining on the Terrace, or over to the Channelside area for dining, movies or shopping. The Harbour Island Athletic Club has a pool, tennis, spa and the ultimate workout facilities. The St. Pete Times Forum, home to The Tampa Bay Lightning, is just a short walk from home. Harbour Court and Seddon Cove feature condominiums with city, or waterviews, with prices starting in the 200’s . Townhomes are available in several neighborhoods, ranging from the 300’s to the 600’s in Harbour Bay. The Keys is a “Key West” style neighborhood with single family home prices  from the 500’s. Villas dominate Port Royal and St. Tropez, with non-waterfront starting in the 700’s and waterfront prices over 1 million. Single Family Homes  are available from 800K and up! The quiet streets are filled with kids (and parents) biking through the neighborhoods.

New Tampa…One of the Best Neighborhoods and Best School Districts in Tampa
